Fraud Recovery Summer 2020 Intern (190000GE)

Rockland Trust is currently seeking a full time intern to join our Deposit Operations team for the upcoming summer.


Primary Objective:

Review, investigate and resolve suspicious transactions mitigating potential fraud loss or exposure to the customer or the bank. In accordance with department policies/procedures and Federal Regulations, you will take proactive measures to prevent losses through any of the following: placing deposit holds, analyzing suspicious account activity, problem reporting, blocking of ATM/debit cards, and documenting activity that has created loss exposure into multiple bank systems.


Position Responsibilities

  • Adherence to policies,procedures and ensures compliance with established procedures.
  • Keeps abreast of allregulatory and compliance changes and applies changes as applicable.
  • Recommends new fraudprevention procedures associated with your job functions through the ProcessImprovement, bank wide initiative.
  • Ensure standards and quality processes are adheredto daily.
  • Places outboundcalls to the customers to confirm activity.
  • Uses a variety ofsources for information, including online systems and tools/models.
  • Contactcustomers, vendors, and other Financial Institutions to validate transactions.
  • Contact thirdparty vendors to confirm disputed transaction information.
  • Handle inbound phone calls to set up effective and immediate paymentarrangements.
  • Train in Perform general account handling functions such as close accountdetermination, holds, deposit verification, etc.
  • Assist bank employees with verifying items,processing claims and other questions regarding Fraud Recovery Departmentfunctions.
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate and promote high ethical standards and behaviors. Respects, promotes, and values diversity.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to make sensitive decisions appropriately

  • Demonstrate ability to handle conflict

  • Ability to handle confidential information with uncompromising integrity

  • Self-motivated, willingness to assume additional responsibilities

  • General knowledge of debit cards/deposit accounts/banking products and or Fraud Investigations.

  • Ability to make timely and independent judgment decisions while working in a fast-paced and results-driven environment

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Desired Qualifications:

  • General knowledge of Fraud and knowledge of industry Fraud trends

  • Working knowledge of debit card rules and regulations pertaining to Regulation E Claims

  • Ability to research and correspond with customers, responding to their questions and concerns with detailed information

  • Ability to research, analyze, and determine a course of action for financial transactions
