Company Overview
Since October 16, 1860, Louisville Water Company has provided safe, high-quality drinking water. Service began with Pumping Station No. 1, now a historic landmark, located at Louisville Water Tower Park (link is external).  Our water tastes so good we gave it a name -- Louisville pure tap® (link is external).

Today, Louisville Water provides water to almost one million customers in Louisville Metro and parts of Bullitt, Hardin, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby and Spencer counties. We are a lifeline to the region, supplying safe drinking water for homes, businesses and schools.

Both the B.E. Payne and Crescent Hill Water Treatment Plants have received the Phase IV Excellence in Water Treatment award for the Partnership for Safe Water in recent years. In 2011, the Riverbank Filtration Project at B.E. Payne Water Treatment Plant was named the “Best Civil Engineering Project in the World” by American Society of Civil Engineers. In addition to our water being safe and clean, Louisville pure tap® was named the "best-tasting tap water in America” by the American Water Works Association in 2008.
