POSITION SUMMARY
Our Water Department is seeking an individual to perform a variety of specialized tasks and technical functions essential to the operation and maintenance of the water production, sewer treatment, and disposal system. This is to ensure the health and safety of all members of the community. This is a full-time year round benefit eligible position. The wage range for this role is $20 - $25/hr, depending on experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Operation and maintenance of the drinking water production, treatment, and distribution systems
Operation and maintenance of the wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal systems
Maintain grounds of the facility and all outbuildings including mowing, snow removal, landscaping, cleaning, carpentry, and painting
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid driver's license
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
Ability to obtain a Vermont State Class 3 Water Systems Operator's license within one year of hire date
Ability to obtain a Vermont State Grade 1 Wastewater Systems Operator's license within one year of hire date
Ability to obtain a Vermont State Class 1 Laboratory Certification within two years of hire date
Strong interpersonal skills
Diverse mechanical skills
Basic reading, writing, and math skills
Basic knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems
Experience with data entry (word, excel)
Promptly respond to emergencies and customer complaints
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Strong ability to problem solve
Ability to work independently
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Assist contractors with water and sewer issues relating to repairs and new construction
Some weekends and emergency on call rotations
Must have the ability to respond to the facility within 45 minutes during on call rotations
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
A valid driver's license is required for this position and successful Motor Vehicle background check.
