Resources for Human Development (RHD) is now hiring Direct Care Professionals, with a $1,000 sign on bonus for full-time staff*!

RHD Boston provides residential, day and individual programs to support men and women with developmental disabilities in the Greater Boston area. We are seeking caring and compassionate individuals for the role of Direct Care Professionals, who are committed to building meaningful relationships in order to provide outstanding care and service for our clients. We offer both Full-Time, Part-Time and On Call options at our residential and day programs in various shifts.

The Direct Support Professional is responsible for safety and supervision of our consumers with Intellectual Developmental Disabilities, Beha

vioral health histories to facilitate healthy and socially acceptable behaviors while living in community-based sites. This position will coordinate with clinical staff, implement residentially based interventions and assist the clients in achieving their clinical assignments. The DSP is responsible for fulfilling the obligations as outlined in the client's program plan. The DSP will prompt or assist, as necessary, to ensure the clients participate in the activities of daily living, in both the home and the community. A commitment to the RHD values should be demonstrated as job duties are performed.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for:

ADMINISTRATIVE:

* Attend and participate in meetings and training related to the services provided in the program (inlcuding but not limited to team meetings, ISP meetings, administrative meetings).

* Ensure program documentation (data sheets, shift notes, etc. ) is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

* Prepare ISP materials for submission to supervisor (monthly progress notes, assessments assigned by supervisor)

* Monitor and document funds are present in the home (client funds, petty cash)

* Order Medication for the program and ensure an adequate supply of medication is on-hand at all times.

- Communicate medical information and follow up

-Use cell phone (company or personal with stipend) to respond to calls (staff, supervisors, doctors, families, DDS, etc.)

- Ensure staff receive regular trainings in fire safety and human rights.

- Read and answer email in a timely matter

INDIVIDUAL SERVICES:

-Provide opportunities for individual choice and independence

-Implement individual goals as outlined in Provider Support Strategies

-Support individuals to participate in all scheduled programs

-Advocate for the need of individuals in the program

-Monitor medication/provide medical treatments as outlined in orders by medical providers

-Ensure that all medical treatments are delivered according to written orders (medications treatments, diets etc.)

-Communicate all important information with supervisors

-Ensure that monthly fire drills are conducted, documented and meet EESP guidelines

TRAINING:

-Participates in regularly scheduled team meetings

-Attends all assigned trainings (in person and online in the Cornerstone system)

PROGRAM SITE:

-Ensure that programs are clean and safe, reports any safety issues to appropriate supervisors (Residential Manager)

Ensure the necessary program supplies are present (food, cleaning materials, materials needed for ISP goals etc.)

DOCUMENTATION:

-Accurately record all data related to ISP goals

-Record all necessary medical/medication information

Other duties as assigned.

  • Provide supervision of individuals in accordance with the person-centered ISP; supporting someone to work towards outcomes identified in ISP and other Person-Centered Support Plans
  • Complete required documentation
  • Administer Medication
  • Provide transportation to consumers
  • Support consumers in activities of daily living, meal prep, toileting, hygiene, as appropriate
  • Assist in Community Integration Activities and access to community supports including medical appointments, social security access, etc.
  • Complete all other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

High School diploma or GED is required, associates or bachelor's degree is preferred

  • Basic computer and internet literacy with the ability to utilize applications like emails, time recording and other programs to enter and retrieve data as necessary to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Prior experience in the human services field preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is preferred
  • Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance, if applicable
  • Must have First Aid certification
  • Must obtain CPR certification within one month of hire
  • Must obtain a Medication Administration Program certificate within 90 days of hire
