Technical Product Manager - Middleware & DevOps

As a Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the development roadmap of our Middleware & DevOps platform, from the development stage until it's in the hands of customers. This is a new product organization Aptiv has launched and you will be at the forefront of industry transformation with cutting-edge technology. You will be responsible for the overall product vision and strategy, creation and execution of product roadmap, assessment of the market opportunity and resource requirements working closely with Product Marketing and Sales, and leading the team with product management best practices. A qualified product manager will not only deliver on the promises to investors and customers but also shape the organization into a product-focused organization.

As the Technical Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the development of Middleware & DevOps platform and will play a key role for Aptiv SW product strategy, adopting a strategic approach to break down barriers and enhance our customer relationships towards a software defined vehicle. You'll build your network of customers and our technical leads with business view in mind and the intention to start and grow business with the Middleware & DevOps platform and form the roadmap for the technology development.

Your Role

  • Define technical requirements in collaboration with Engineering and ensure alignment with customer needs
  • Help develop and manage product roadmap, ensuring product milestones are met
  • Lead technical analysis and research to guide product development needs and foster innovation in product design and functionality

Major Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Serve as the technical expert within the product management team, guiding technical discussions, decisions, and product strategy for Middleware & DevOps
  • Product Development Collaboration: Collaborate with Engineering to translate product vision into detailed technical requirements and specifications. Ensure the technical product development process aligns with the overall roadmap and business goals
  • Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and challenges to inform product strategy and development
  • Cross-functional engagement: Identify product development challenges and engage in cross-functional discussions to unblock roadblocks
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders, including customers, Sales and Marketing, and Engineering to ensure product development aligns with customer / market needs
  • Technical Documentation and Communication: Create and maintain comprehensive technical requirements for products and also clearly articulate to non-technical stakeholders

Your Background

Key ingredients for succeeding in this role are your:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field. Master's degree preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience in technical product management or a closely related role, with a focus on software or technology products
  • Deep technical expertise in cloud-native technologies, microservices, Kubernetes, APIs, and related technologies
  • Proven track record of managing technical product development cycles, including familiarity with Agile development methodologies
  • Strong understanding of technical architecture, system design, software development principles
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities, capable of effectively engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience in the automotive industry is preferred, especially with middleware
  • Knowledge of automotive standards and protocols, such as ISO 26262, DDS, SOME/IP, CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and Ethernet preferred
  • Experience with automotive software development cycles, testing methodologies, a plus
  • Ability to travel, if required, including internationally
  • Ability to work on site regularly in Boston, MA
