Your Opportunity

You are an information specialist who relishes solving novel problems in the areas of machine learning, generative AI, natural language processing, information extraction, document summarization, information retrieval, search relevancy, and/or knowledge graphs. You will bring new ideas, iterate quickly, share findings, and drive new solutions for content metadata enrichment and content discovery/findability.

This job is not a traditional software developer or data science role and is best suited to someone with knowledge and experience in fields such as information systems, knowledge management, and/or library science. Creativity in the face of open-ended problems is required.

This remote position is U.S.-based only (excluding U.S. territories).

What You'll Do

• Develop tools and strategies related to text analytics, machine learning, generative AI, and metadata enrichment pipelines
• Engineer precise, clear, and effective prompts to guide LLMs towards generating desired outcomes, while minimizing biases and hallucinations
• Drive projects as the principal point-of-contact, with the ability to determine suitable MLAI models, direct feature engineering processes, and negotiate KPIs per business needs
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with product managers, software developers, knowledge engineers, and senior business leaders
• Actively track market trends and emerging technologies, including staying aware of cutting-edge research in ML, Generative AI, and NLP topics, to identify innovative solutions

Your Team

You will join a ~20-member Semantic Enrichment department comprised of a Machine Learning Team and Operations Team. You will join the 5-person Machine Learning Team, working closely with the 15-person Operations team comprised of taxonomists and metadata specialists. The department takes an agile development-like approach to planning and executing work, and we work closely with developers and product managers from content, search, and UI/UX teams.

About You

• 7+ years' experience with natural language processing and/or machine learning model implementation, including ML Ops processes such as experimentation and quality review

• 5 years' experience with Python for data science, including Pandas, Jupyter notebooks, and open-source machine learning modules (Scikit, NLTK, Spacy)
• 5 years' experience with database querying, extraction of data, and design using SQL
• Demonstrated knowledge of statistics and information retrieval quality measures, including precision, recall, and F-measure

What Sets You Apart

• Problem-solver who applies critical thinking and creative technical solutions to address root causes of problems in the metadata enrichment and/or search space
• Experience automating manual, intellectual tasks
• Demonstrated interest in search strategy and exposure to Search technologies (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch)
• 1-years' experience working with generative AI models, including prompt engineering and parameter tuning in a real-world setting
• 2+ years' experience in advanced machine learning skills, including deep learning, model architectures, and ensemble modeling
• 5+ years' experience sharing insights from data with others, listening to subject matter experts, translating expert knowledge into ML features, and connecting with project stakeholders
• Experience in publishing, knowledge management (e.g., libraries, librarians), or a related field

Our Offer to You

Target Annual Compensation Range: $109,800 - $156,855.

The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position's work location.
