INVENTORY ANALYST

The Inventory Analyst IV will be responsible for ensuring that the inventory levels are maintained to the levels to meet production and sales demands. This role has a strong emphasis on communicating effectively and leading and facilitating projects on behalf of the planning group. This position has a strong interaction with the operations team to ensure product is being completed timely to sustain high on-time delivery to the customer. This position will be a champion for the inventory process in the plant and will promote problem solving at the point of impact.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE (title of position)

  • Independently initiate regularly scheduled inventory review of potentially unsupported items, excess, safety stock levels. Lead the team review, appropriate adjustments, report out.
  • Assist manager during the SAP IBP (Integrated Business Planning) S&OP (Sale and Operation Planning) to create realistic supply plans to meet the demand plan; includes review of mid to long term rough-cut capacity planning.
  • Assist in the preparation of weekly, monthly, and yearly melt schedules that satisfy AOP (Annual Operating Plan) requirements while driving down costs (raw material purchases).
  • Ensure a clear understanding of true customer demand and adjust item flow; accordingly, drive problem-solving to enable inventory reduction and availability throughout the mill.
  • Analyze input from S&OP process to drive the material system appropriately.
  • Provide training & guidance within the established planning team and to new employees coming into the Inventory role.
  • Lead and facilitate project teams that will require analytical and supply chain management skills.
  • Proactively identify and develop procedures in concert with Manufacturing, Sales, and Technical, for possible application to orders, offer for sale to secondary customers to reduce surplus material. Lead process/quality improvement initiatives within the Inventory group.
  • Leads the inventory processes on-site communicating with production, customer service, management, and other functions to ensure plans meet all commitments.
  • Assists in establishing and maintaining the appropriate stocking and manufacturing strategy for each product (i.e. Make-to-stock, Make-to-order, etc.) simultaneously considering the production lead-times and commercial requirements while balancing the risk of lost sales against the carrying of excess inventory.
  • Assist in analyzing data to optimize inventory to simultaneously maximize customer service levels and inventory turns while simultaneously minimizing risk of inventory obsolescence and carrying costs.
  • With experience, lead project teams that will require analytical and advanced supply chain management skills in relations to inventory.
  • Review key metrics in delivery performance, inventory turns, throughput time, etc. and initiate countermeasures to improve trends where appropriate.
  • Gain in-depth experience in the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and Scheduling systems to ensure data accuracy and maximum/optimal use of system resources.
  • Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned.

REQUIRED FOR THE INVENTORY ANALYST

  • High school diploma required. Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing /industrial setting with a focus in supply chain operations (production planning, inventory, scheduling, system development, etc.)
  • Previous work experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and/or Advanced Planning and Scheduling (APS) systems used for manufacturing planning and scheduling, such as SAP, Oracle, etc.
  • Experience ensuring the proper processes and tools are utilized to plan maintenance activities.
  • Demonstrated ability in change management and building a high-performance team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, computer, and basic business skills.
  • Problem solving abilities
