Mass General Brigham (MGB) Enterprise Pathology is a major strategic integrated service with several system-wide initiatives that will find opportunities to collaborate across MGB laboratory locations, including all Academic Medical Center (AMC) and community sites. Enterprise Pathology will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of laboratory testing across MGB hospitals and advance strategic collaborations in clinical excellence, quality, access, and cost efficiency.

Schedule/Location:

Our role is a hybrid position with flexibility for remote work with expectation of onsite presence for weekly meetings at our corporate headquarters in Somerville - Assembly Row.

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Director of Finance, Enterprise Pathology, the Senior Financial Analyst will:

* Independently perform a wide variety of complex accounting and other cost center management activities for all clinical operating and physician organization cost centers.

* Review monthly financial activity, tracking budget versus actual variances, constructing variance analyses and projections for all areas of the portfolio including volume, revenue, expenses, FTEs and productivity.

Primary Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with various MGB Accounting, Accounts Payable, Purchasing, Technical Directors and other department and hospital staff to identify any key issues related to financial performance and develop action plans as appropriate.
  • Present analytical and financial performance summaries.
  • Work with the Director and Technical Directors in the annual budget process to include tracking of updates, reporting and analysis of additions or changes to existing programs or services.
  • Complete periodic analyses of revenue and expenses associated with each Enterprise Pathology business initiatives.
  • Provide analytic support to Enterprise Pathology business initiatives that lead to business insights for key decision-makers.
  • Prepare and facilitate materials to convey trends and highlight opportunities or risks.

* Excellent analytical and customer problem resolution skills.

* Must be extremely well organized to manage multiple tasks simultaneously under sometimes tight deadlines.

* Exceptional judgment and discretion in interacting with management on sensitive fiscal and confidential issues.

* Ability to collaborate independently with operating managers on issues such as cost per unit analysis, forecasting and variance analysis.

* Possess strong people skills to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization.

* Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds, and levels within and external to the organization.

* Ability to effectively conduct meetings, both formal and informal

* Requires minimal direction from leadership and possesses the ability to learn quickly.

* Excellent data analysis and computer skills particularly with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word applications.

* Initiative-taking, resourceful, and able to take initiative. A "can do" attitude.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Required:

* Minimum of a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics or related field.

* 2-5 years' experience in a financial analysis role.

* Use of Tableau, StrataJazz Financial Planning or Decision Support, Workday, and ability to create Excel macros are a plus but not required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • No direct reports; may indirectly provide leadership and guidance to other members of the team.

Fiscal Responsibility:

  • No direct budgetary responsibility
  • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility by effectively using Mass General Brigham resources.
